Lake Manyara National Park – Tanzania's Hidden Gem of the Northern Circuit
Lake Manyara National Park is one of Tanzania’s most scenic and diverse national parks, offering an extraordinary safari experience within a surprisingly compact area. Located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment in northern Tanzania, the park covers 648 square kilometres, of which nearly two-thirds is occupied by the shallow and alkaline Lake Manyara itself.
Despite its relatively small size compared to other Tanzanian parks, Lake Manyara punches well above its weight in terms of wildlife diversity, scenic beauty, and unique safari experiences. It is most famous for its tree-climbing lions — a rare and fascinating behavior found in very few places in the world — and its spectacular flocks of flamingos that paint the lakeshore pink during certain seasons.
At Mercy Travel, Lake Manyara National Park is a favorite stop on our Northern Circuit safari itineraries, offering our guests a beautiful and diverse complement to the wider landscapes of Tarangire, Ngorongoro, and the Serengeti.
